New! Tax Forms Workshop: 5500 and More
SunGard’s new Tax Forms Workshop (formerly the Form 5500 Workshop) has been redesigned and expanded to address the many tax forms which face retirement plan practitioners. Of course, you will find answers to your Form 5500 questions, including the changes from last year’s form and new welfare plan filing rules. But this expanded Workshop also addresses other tax forms that are part of retirement plan practice.
We look at Form 8955-SSA and the related participant notice. We examine other tax forms: determination letters (5300, 5303, 5307) and when to request them, plan terminations (5310), mergers and transfers (5310-A), change of plan years (5308), group trusts (5318), and extensions to file (5558). We pinpoint several of the penalty taxes reported on Form 5330, including those for prohibited transactions, excess contributions, and nondeductible contributions, and look at the participant penalties for early distribution and late required minimum distribution reported on Form 5329. We also explain the IRS proposed rules on electronic filing which may require many plans to file 1099-R, 8955-SSA, and other forms electronically and compare the differences between the two authorization forms (2848 and 8821).
Plan now to attend this workshop and take advantage of the tools it provides to understand all the filing obligations a plan sponsor may have and how to satisfy them while minimizing the likelihood of IRS or DOL correspondence.
NOTE: Back-to-back scheduling! In most locations, the Tax Forms Workshop: 5500 and More is on the next day that follows the 401(k) Plan Workshop. A multi-program registration discount is offered for those who wish to attend both programs at the same location. Attend both Workshops - Tax Forms and 401(k) and enjoy the multiple-program discount – an additional $45 savings!
Who Should Attend:
The Tax Forms Workshop: 5500 and More benefits preparers at all levels of experience. Beginners learn how to complete the forms accurately. Experienced preparers receive an excellent review of the forms and pick up valuable pointers on how to complete the difficult questions.
Third party administrators, consultants, attorneys, accountants, actuaries, trust officers, investment advisors, insurance agents, corporate benefits staff – including compensation and human resources – and others involved with plan design, compliance, administration, and reporting will all benefit from this program.
Objectives: Upon completion of the 2014 Tax Forms Workshop, an attendee should be able to:
