403(b) Prototype Document Workshop – 2-day program

At long last, the IRS has created a program for pre-approved 403(b) plan documents and the first round of documents have been reviewed and approved by the Service. 403(b) plan sponsors have until March 30, 2020 to restate their plan documents. FIS has developed five different 403(b) document formats to meet a wide-range of plan sponsor and practitioner needs. The program provides a line-by-line review of the new document Adoption Agreements as well as a review of the Basic Plan Document. The focus is primarily on the Adoption Agreement, giving background and explanations as to its use, including suggested completion of check-box and blank line options. Attendees receive a practical understanding of the FIS 403(b) plan documents. Save time and get an early start on the 403(b) restatement process.

OBJECTIVES: After the program, attendees should be able to:

  • Identify the proper time frame for restating 403(b) plan documents
  • Determine the appropriate plan document for a particular sponsor’s needs
  • Understand the many of the unique issues associated with 403(b) plan documents
  • Complete eligibility and entry provisions correctly
  • Select the proper effective date for the document
  • Interpret key provisions in the Adoption Agreement and Basic Plan Document
  • Understand the opportunities and risks associated with plan amendments
  • Advise clients regarding 403(b) plan failures

NOTE: Back-to-back scheduling! The 2-day 403(b) Prototype Document Workshop is preceded by the 1-day 403(b) Plans for 401(k) Administrators Workshop.
