MEPs, IRAs, and More: DOL Guidance on State Plans [2016]
Date: 3/8/2016 Start Time: 12:00 PM (ET) Duration: 60 Min.

Description

This is the second of two Web seminars dealing with Multiple Employer Plans (MEPs). The first one, "Multiple Employer Plans: How MEPs Work for Private Employers," is scheduled for March 1, 2016.

The DOL has recently published guidance on four alternatives states can use to promote retirement plan savings. The guidance allows states to do things no private employer or organization can do, and has the potential to change the landscape and economics of retirement plan practice. This 60-minute program will discuss all four alternatives, and show how some states are already acting.

Topics include:

  • ERISA exempt automatic contribution IRAs
    • Unique state powers
    • Alternative approaches
  • ERISA plans
    • Marketplace
    • State prototype
    • State MEP
      • Unique state powers
      • Potential pitfalls
  • State status
