401(k) Plan Workshop (1-day program)
Kansas City, KS - 6/9/2015 - 6/9/2015

Description

Change is in the wind. It’s been years since we’ve had a slew of major changes dealing with retirement plans, but now the new and potentially profound guidance we are getting now from the IRS and the DOL has the potential to reshape the 401(k) world. If you need to stay abreast of what’s happening in the retirement plan world, you need to attend the FIS (formerly SunGard) 401(k) Plan Workshop.

The professional educators at Relius Education will present a program addressing all the major issues affecting plans today. From the new guidance on safe harbor 401(k) amendments, to the proposal to limit the use of the average benefit test in cross-testing, to the new laws affecting church plans, to changes in the determination letter process, to the final regulations on fiduciary status and conflicted advice, the 401(k) workshop will cover it all. We will have careful analysis, detailed examples and case studies, and well planned strategies to help you and your clients thrive in this changing environment. Topics include:

  • Proposed changes in cross-testing
  • Mid-year safe harbor amendments
  • Final conflicted advice fiduciary regulation
  • New rules for church plans
  • Optimizing automatic enrollment/automatic escalation
  • Changes in determination letters
  • Current developments

There hasn’t been a 401(k) workshop this packed with new information and analysis since the Pension Protection Act. Scheduled in six cities only in 2016, the workshop is a “must do” for 401(k) practitioners.

OBJECTIVES: After the program, attendees should be able to:

  • List alternative strategies for dealing with cross-testing proposed regulations
  • Correctly make midyear amendments to safe harbor 401(k) plans
  • Determine whether a church is part of common control group
  • Explain the effect of the new conflicted advice rules
  • List changes in the determination letter process
  • Advise clients regarding automatic enrollment and escalation provisions
  • Determine whether new proposed regulations will affect a given cross-tested plan

NOTE: Back-to-back scheduling!
The 401(k) Plan Workshop is followed on the next day by the Form 5500 Workshop. A multi-program registration discount is offered for those who wish to attend both programs at the same location. Attend both Workshops and enjoy the multiple-program discount – a $50 savings!
