*******************************************************************************

At long last, the IRS has created a program for pre-approved 403(b) plan documents and the first round of documents have been reviewed and approved by the Service. 403(b) plan sponsors have until March 30, 2020 to restate their plan documents with a Remedial Amendment Period that can stretch back to 2010. FIS has developed five different 403(b) document formats to meet a wide-range of plan sponsor and practitioner needs. This three-part web seminar series provides a line-by-line review of the new document Adoption Agreements as well as a review of the Basic Plan Document. The focus is primarily on the Adoption Agreement, giving background and explanations as to its use, including suggested completion of check-box and blank line options. Attendees receive a practical understanding of FIS 403(b) plan documents. Save time and get an early start on the 403(b) restatement process.

Topics include:

  • 403(b) Remedial Amendment Period
  • Retroactive restatement dates
  • Completing the Adoption Agreement (AA) elections
  • AA elections that can trap the unwary
  • Addressing special effective dates
  • Documenting Investment Arrangements and Information Sharing Agreements
  • Delegation of administrative functions
  • Basic Plan Document (BPD) provisions
  • Anti-cutback provisions in the document
  • 403(b) Multiple Employer Plan (MEP) provisions
Prerequisites: There are no prerequisites or other advanced preparation for this program. The instructor will assume attendees have a general familiarity with the basic 403(b) plan concepts, and a minimum of two years of experience in dealing with qualified plans. For attendees requiring an introduction to 403(b) plan concepts, we strongly recommend that you attend our live Web seminar 403(b) Plans for 401(k) Administrators: A 3-Part Program (link it to the description page for the webcast) presented on February 26-27-28 at 12:00 ET each day.
