Description
One of the brilliant innovations of the 2008 version of EPCRS involved the new terms “Excess Amounts, Excess Allocations, and Overpayments.” These three phrases capture a host of potential plan operational failures.

Fortunately, EPCRS also provided common sense mechanisms for correcting those failures. Thus, preapproved corrections now exist for many issues for which previously we had to guess at a correction.

This Web seminar will look at the power of these concepts, and how you can use them to address many varied and previously thorny plan issues.

Prerequisites: There are no prerequisites or other advanced preparation for this program. However, the instructor will assume that attendees have a general understanding of the operation of 401(k) plans.

Objectives: After taking the course, attendees should be able to:

  1. Define excess amounts, excess allocations and overpayments.
  2. Analyze potential plan failures to determine which rules apply.
  3. Craft appropriate corrections to plan failures involving excess amounts, excess allocations, and overpayments.
