Multiple Employer Plans: Perils and Possibilities
Presentor: Derrin Watson Recorded Date: 1/11/2011 Duration: 100 Min.

Description

This program was recorded during a live presentation on January 11, 2011.

Multiple employer plans can be a gift or a curse, depending on the facts. There are some situations, such as professional employer organizations, that call out for multiple employer plans. Others happen seemingly by accident, such as when ownership changes break up a controlled group.

Whether created by design or by chance, multiple employer plans are complex and require careful thought and planning. In this seminar, Derrin Watson, author of "Who’s the Employer?", which extensively addresses PEOs and multiple employer plans, will discuss:

  • Common multiple employer plan situations
  • Design strategies
  • Qualification rules
    • Service
    • Compensation
    • Testing
    • Top-heavy
    • PEO-specific rules
  • Form 5500 preparation
  • Determination letter issues
  • Changes in sponsors
  • Correcting errors
