Little is more fundamental to plan administration that correctly determining the compensation of employees. Yet it is a widely misunderstood topic, as the one word, "compensation," can mean many different things, even within a single plan, depending on the context of the situation. Misstating compensation can result in IRS Code Section 415 violations, nondeductible contributions, incorrect allocations, and prohibited discrimination. Strict adherence to a single definition of compensation can take away valuable tools, which can lower costs and simplify administration.
This program gives the audience a clear understanding not only of what you must do, but also what can be done in dealing with this basic computation. It also addresses IRS proposed regulations on post-severance compensation.
