This program was recorded during a live presentation on March 31, 2009.
We have the first set of final regulations under the new administration and they address automatic enrollment plans. We now have detailed rules on EACAs and QACAs. The new rules make numerous changes to the proposed regulations, many of which enhance flexibility or resolve questions and concerns. The new rules also reflect some recent changes in 401(k) corrections. The new regulations go into effect in 2010.
An automatic enrollment plan may be a good answer for many employers seeking to reduce matching contributions but still maintain employee deferrals. Under the final regulations, employers have more options than ever before on EACAs, which give the crucial ability to return automatic deferrals. The new regulations provide numerous enhancements for both EACAs and QACAs. Our March 31 Web seminar gives you the complete details of the new regulations.
