Informal approval of EGTRRA DB prototypes
We have received "informal" IRS approval of the SunGard EGTRRA DB prototype plans. The informal IRS approval of the ndividually designed formatted volume submitter DB plan will be issued soon.
The "informal" approval means the IRS is no longer actively reviewing the plan. However, actual opinion and advisory letters will not be issued until sometime in March (once all pre-approved DB plans have been reviewed and approved). At that time, the IRS will announce the restatement period for employers using pre-approved DB plans.
If you are a sponsor of a our DB prototype plan, you will be receiving an email over the next several weeks directing you to our website where you can view the informally approved prototype plans.
